4-8 weeks

I was feeling fine for the first few weeks of knowing I was pregnant – and I started wondering if maybe I wouldn’t get sick with this pregnancy. September 12, right at the 6 weeks mark, I started feeling sick. Dangit! It is definitely not fun to feel this way but at the same time, it’s a constant reminder to me that I was pregnant, which was a good thing!

*Sept 13 – Russ and I went together for the ultrasound appointment at ARMS and we were able to see the baby on the screen. We didn’t notice anything in the shape of a baby, but we did see a cute little flicker on the screen, which was the heartbeat. It was so cute to see that and I had wished that we had video footage of it to share with our family. Oh well, next time! The doctor told us that the baby was growing perfectly - the size was right on and the heartbeat was great.

6.5 weeks along: the baby is what looks like the "stone" on the "ring"

On Friday September 21, I woke up feeling pretty good. Russ had brought me a coke slurpee first thing that morning which I think started the day off good for me. Then, I took my anti-nausea pill that I had picked up at the pharmacy the day before, before I ever felt sick. I went grocery shopping and felt totally fine that day. It was a nice break from the sick days I had been having. After grocery shopping I headed to my mom's house to lay out with my sisters and I noticed I was spotting. I called the doctor's office and they told me to be on bed rest for the rest of the day and to take it really easy for the rest of the weekend. I actually stopped spotting before the end of the night on Friday and it really wasn't much at all. I stayed in my room all day Saturday and didn't really feel sick. The fact that I didn't feel sick for 2 days in a row scared me really bad. I thought that even though I wasn't spotting anymore, the baby must have stopped growing since I felt fine. It was a long weekend! On Saturday night I had filled my friend and the Primary President, Pam Rapier in on what was going on since I was going to have to miss part of church on Sunday. She was at the temple and put my name on the prayer roll. I know my family was praying for me too and I felt a little more peace than I had on Friday. When Monday morning came around, I was back to feeling sick but I called Dr. Huish's office anyway to see if I could get in to check on the baby that day. They got me in that afternoon and an ultrasound showed the baby to be right on track with his or her growth, making me 7 weeks 6 days - which is exactly what I thought I was. The heartbeat was strong and Dr. Huish said everything looked really good. He told me that he couldn't see any evidence from the ultrasound report of a tear or anything that would have caused the bleeding. I left his office feeling so much better about everything - and so happy to know my baby was healthy!
