The nursery

The day after getting back from Hawaii, I got on Craigslist to search for furniture for our baby's room. I didn't waste any time... I was so excited and obviously in the "nesting" stage.

I had seen this bedding in Pottery Barn and fell in love. I was willing to look for fabric and have bedding made by Grandma Price, but I knew I wanted the same colors found in this bedding... soft pink, tiffany blue, and tan.

The first thing we found was a crib, and Kaitlyn helped Russ put in together one afternoon. It was so fun to walk by the "baby's room" and see a crib in there!

Next, we found a lady (through Craigslist) that painted old furniture and made it look really nice. We went to her house and picked out a dresser. Before and after picture:

After searching for fabric with the colors I liked, I decided I wasn't going to find exactly what I was looking for, and I decided that I would buy the crib bumper from Pottery Barn and have everything else made with coordinating fabrics. Grandma Price and Grandma Vicki helped me pick out some cute fabrics... and Grandma Price made a really cute crib skirt. I LOVED it when we had all the pieces together on the crib - it came together just like I had hoped it would.

I spent several weeks working on the nursery. I had found pictures online of things I loved, and duplicated them in my own way...

Inspiration on the top: I loved the blue blanket hanging from the crib in the top left picture and I loved the simple look of a white crib skirt on the top right.

Inspiration on top: I wanted a cute way to organize headbands. I loved the "banner" hanging from the frame in the top left picture, and liked the idea of hanging headbands with clothespins in the top right. I had so much fun sewing the pendants for the banner with cute fabric that matched the bedding.

Inspiration on left: I have a thing for stripes, and I LOVE every striped window treatment I ever see, especially horizontal even stripes in 2 colors. I felt like these curtains were my biggest accomplishment since it was a somewhat complicated process, but Grandma Price gave me instructions every step of the way.

Inspiration on left: a corkboard covered with fabric and gold pushpins. I loved the idea of it but now that I've completed my own I can't decide how I feel about it. I haven't hung my creation in the nursery just yet... I'm waiting for Aunt Suzy's opinion!
Inspiration on left: Cute bookshelves were the answer for what to do on a wall with just a little space. I can't wait to cuddle the baby and read her these books!

Inspiration on left: a simple mobile hanging in the corner of the room. I liked it since I had a wall that needed something to balance out the space because of where the crib was set up. I found instructions online and spent several hours on this mobile. It might be my favorite part of the nursery... and Russ's too. He has commented several times about how cute it is!

Inspiration on left: a cute lamp, obviously! I spray painted a lamp base to match the color of gold hardware we had used other places in the room, and then I covered a plain white shade with cute double-ruffled ribbon.

Inspiration on top: Big, scalloped frames. I found a frame I could paint to match the room and can't wait to fill it (and the others on each side) with pictures of our baby!

After lots of work by both Russ and I, we pretty much finished the room about 6 weeks after starting it. I really enjoyed every part of it - from painting, sewing, and organizing the clothes, diapers, blankets, etc...  I think it looks pretty good! All we are missing at this point (besides the pictures to fill frames) are monogram letters to go inside the frame above the crib. If we could decide on a name we could finish things up!
